The Cool Kids TV commercial, along with are a hip-hop duo from Illinois. The duo consists of Mikey Rocks and Chuck Inglish (originally from Detroit). Their single "Black Mags" is featured in a late 2007 RhapsodySara Bareilles. They have been and currently are on tour with M.I.A.. They have also been featured in the video game NBA Live 08 with the song "88", and in season 4 episode 2 ("The First Cut Is the Deepest") of HBO's Entourage with the song "Mikey Rocks." The Cool Kids' first single, Black Mags, and it's accompanying music video were premiered on mtvU's Fall edition of "The Freshmen."[2] The video then landed on YouTube where it has since garnered nearly half a million views.[3] The video was shot in Chicago's Southwest Side in early August of 2007[4]. The video was directed by Joe Esquivel[5] and the director of photography was Jake Zalutsky.[6]
